awesome first shot. I'd have been a little nervous though with lightening like that around. Recently at 12 midday a 17 year old hockey coach and two young 10 year old girls were struck by a lightening bolt out of the blue here. Luckily the older girlhad an umbrella which the bolt struck and that is what saved them. left a huge hole in the hockey field.

Thanks for the compliment. About being that close to the action, it didn't feel like we were that close at the time. Plus I guess I got used to it growing up in one of the lightning capitals (Central Florida), every afternoon in the summer there's a thunderstorm nearby. Add to that the fact that I'm not always known to exhibit the best of common sense, and there you have it, all that equals me standing out in an impending thunderstorm trying to get a picture of lightning.:-)

Incredible shots. I like the first one best, but they are all incredible. You were very lucky to be at the right place at the right time, but you also did a great job with your camera.
Seems they were shooting fireworks off from 2 different locations at the same time. |

Holy Cat! I guess the picture proves nature can always trump anything man can do. What a shot!

That's gotta be a once in a lifetime shot! Amazing!
The crop on your avatar prooves that the lightning shot is great all by itself, so the added fireworks are a great bonus! I debated for months over getting that same camera, as my two previous cameras were Kodaks. But in the end I picked the Fuji s7000 simply because it took the same CF cards that all my other cameras took. I am jellous of your 10x zoom! |

Wow!! That's like taking the two best shots I could ever get and then doubling the luck, tripling the skill, and caddabing badda boom you've got it!
And hey basement shows-- rock on MN! |
