The small island in the middle is called "massacre island". I will tell you the story. 300 years ago, Micmac indians were living in this area peacefully until there enemies, Iroquois indians, came to find a new hunting and fishing place. The iroquoisdeclared war on the micmacs and the micmacswent on the island where a cave was used as a hiding-place. But it wasn't too long that the iroquois found it and they set a fire at the cave's entrance. Smoke forced the micmacs to escape and the iroquois killed all of them when they were trying to escape the cave. When i was a kid, i used to go on the islandand i can saw the entrance of the cave but icouldn't get inside because they dynamited the entrance about 50 years ago to stop people to go inside.

Cool picture! Brings out a little mysterious feel with the fog and misted colors that help fit the story more.
Nice tidbit of history! Did you know about the massacre when you went on that island? If I were you, I'd never set foot on that island if I knew what had happened there! Creepy! |
