Today, being February 29, 2004, my nephew and I went back to the Columbia River Gorge east of Portland Oregon. I took 84 photo's, not all winners, but I thought you might enjoy some of them.
The last one is coming down from Beacon Rock. It's as much fun climbing as coming down. http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/LinkP...40041d0b&size= http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/LinkP...21b36f36&size= http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/LinkP...4dc72efd&size= http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/LinkP...67de3280&size= |

Well, you're certainly an energetic fellow! It looks like stunning terrain, an area you could go back to again and again, taking pictures forever without running out of photos to take. The ones you posted are really nice, in particular the first one, which is beautifully composed and which clearly shows the way haze increases with distance. It makes the focal point of the picture stand out just that much more.

The third photo certainly sets the perspective and makes one realize how small we are in the natural order of things.
Keep clicking away. |

Is that second pic at Wahkeena falls? I need to head out there and take some pics sometime.
Have you started at Horsetail falls (one exit east of Multnomah Falls) and gone up to Triple Falls? Some pretty decent photo opportunities along the way. |

Hey Ryan. I don't think that we stopped at Wahkenna Falls, but my memory has been slipping lately. I think it was the outflow from Lutourel Falls. It was rainy Sunday, and we were stopping quickly to snap shots between showers. Here is another shot that should confirm which falls it was.
I've been wanting to get out again, but I caught this cold/alien cranium invasion that has kept me out of work for three days. http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/LinkP...22002a77&size= |
