Taken from Battery Park (the southern tip of Manhattan) on December 29, 2003, at about 5PM.

I guess my elbows were listing..here's a somewhat 'straighter' one from a few minutes later, but I caught a helicopter rather than a seagull in this one.:

Nice shot. Don't take this the wrong way, but it almost seems like it should have some motivational/patriotic saying under it. It's an inspiring shot.

Thank you. It wouldn't have occurred to me to put a caption under the photo. Living in NYC, I've seen the Statue hundreds of times, yet she really is always inspiring. SeveralEllis/Liberty Island ferries were lined up to dock because the islands had just closed and I truthfully was paying more attention to getting some photos w/o being blocked by a boat than I was about photo composition.I was glad that I caught the flag flying on the right side of the photo. |

The second picture has less tilt, but I like the first picture better. The color is somehow better.

I like the second one better. They're both great but the sky in the first almost seems too bright to me. But either way they're great! You should get a series of the same angle or whatnot and sompletely different sunsets or sunrises.
