Go easy on yourself, Wisconsin Girl...
You captured the shimmer wonderfully, esp in the later pics. ![]() |

Thanks, great shots, esp last ones...think I'll go out a bit later and see if they're still up there. Best regards,

Thanks. Now I'm heading out on the internet to try to figure out what settings I should be using to get more crisp shots.
I used ISO 100, the P and TV and A-DEP settings with time lapses set for 8-30 seconds. I need to get a cable release or the remote to reduce the shake, too. I have to remember that I'm just learning, but it is so frustrating to have something so beautiful in front of you, and not be able to capture it. I know, I know, I'll always have it inside, but I really wanted to be able to share it with my family. At least my kids got to see the lights between 6-7 pm. Hopefully, next time, I'll be prepared. I'm probably violating copyright laws, but here are some I found on the internet last year... THESE ARE NOT MINE IN THE POSTS BELOW>>>> ![]() |

At this link, there are many other links with pictures, atmospheric weather reports (the more sun flare activity, the higher the probability that there will be Northern Lights in the near future). Tons of pix from photographers from around the world. Just wanted to share. |

wonderful thread, very interesting to read how you lived the event!
i think your pictures are interesting and quite good, given the situation. for next time try also to set manual focus to infinity so that you will get the stars more sharpened too! i've never seen northernlights, hope to see some sooner or later (not here in italy :-)) |
