An interesting find there. Looks like clap boards over an old log cabin that was modified into a barn. May be an old homesead. Lots of fun.

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the forum!

I especially liked your second photo. It echoes the days before power tools, when lumber was harvested by teams of horses, windmills powered by steam and the logs hand-hewn.

Once thing you may to consider (with owner's permission of course) is to take some interior shots also to show the elegant, simple, construction of a dwelling pre-tyvek.

When I have wanted to photograph interiors of old buildings, I would ask around for the owners. I would then contact them with an 8 x 10 in hand of the exterior and ask permission to photograph the interiors with a promise of prints of the good ones to them. I have yet to be refused when approaching owners in this way.

Hi, I know what you mean, they seem to show their scars oflife of so openly. They are abandoned derilects, but photgraphs brings outthe dignity of their past.

Very nice find, I like both images, but prefer the lighting on the fall image.

I like the warmth on the second image, also. Your choice of images was great! I have been taking similar pictures, also, to record the decay of our farming community. Very sad. What would that first one look like in sepia?? Just wondering.

i like the first one best. it conveys a sense of age, decrepitude and abandonment - very evocative. nice job! it might also look good in sepia or b&w...
