Thanks Jackrussel
The sky at top is overexposed, becasue of the long exposure that blurs the water... I don't know of anyway I could have avoided that ![]() |

As posted, image #2 is inferior to #1, but, I believe, it has more possibilities to explore. If the orginal was shot in the RAW format, I would use PS to work on the sky and the sheep. Do a little "burning" and "dodging" to really bring out the sheep and the sky. Also, I think you can bring the overall scenic contrast up just a bit - this will make the photo "jump!"
If the image is only available as a .jpg, you may still be able to do some of the necessary work, but in a more limited fashion. To my eye, the second image is better composed, than #1. If you don't mind a small critical suggestion, I would like to see #1 cropped to eliminate some of the background distractions. I think I would "punch up" the contrast in the water a bit, also. Just a thought. |

Delos thanks for you're input :-)
Unfortunately it wasn't in RAW as I only have a 256mb CF card at the moment, and also being new-ish to 'serious' photography (not had the cam long) I haven'y really experimented with NEF format yet, been busy with other camera features really... Anyway thanks for the feedback, I'll have a play in photoshop (I'm not particularly proficient with it! but will have a go anyway) and have a look at what you've suggested... Many thanks. Jim |

nice shots
![]() is the second one cropped? i think it would be best, if you cropped the photo just to the left of the sheep.... nicely done...good choice of b/w.... Vito |

Vito, thanks.... yes the 2nd one is cropped, here is the original image (resized and compressed to 6 in PS, though otherwise untouched)

ok..i definetely like your crop better than the original...but i think it could use a little more cropping....to the left of the sheep...
