Default Second Beach

went out to La Push on the Washington coast yesterday to shoot sunset at Second Beach, which is a relatively unspoiled beach popular with photographers. there were only a dozen or so people there, and by sundown, there were only 4, who stuck around to shoot the sunset. the sunset itself was almost boring - aside from the sun setting through the "hole in the wall", there wasn't much to recommend it, and the other three photographers disappeared right after the sun did. their loss! i hung around, the only person on the beach, for another 30-45 minutes, watching the colors in the sky... the best colors almost always appear well after the sun actually sets, it's amazing how many people still haven't figured that out! anyway, here are a few from my trip... 5D and Tammy 24-135, various settings...

Don't you love it when patience pays off. Have you also noticed that reflected colors, especially from the sky are always more vivid than the actual sky colors. A good example is you last shot. Which is my favorite.

All the best,

Almost unearthly. Beautiful and peaceful. Last one is my favorite.

I like the mystery of the first photo, footprints leading to the water with no return prints.

A very nice series Squirl033. I've also learned that it pays to wait til the sun has set...down here in Huntington Beach.

Hi Squirl033

Again a well executed series you've done here! I particularly like the composition of photo 1 and the colours of photo 4. Only thing I could think of in photo 1, if the photo was not cropped quite so close to the heal of the first foot print.

Keep shooting and sharing, mate!

kind regards
