Melanie,
From a very personal perspective, I loved the composition but somehow the contrast and shading of the picture is off target since the "rock" doesn't grab the viewer's attention as much as it deserves. |

Try increasing the contrast and maybe reducing brightness a couple of notches and I suspect this image could be totally transformed .

Hi Melanie
This an interesting photo... I am curious about the photo... Did you shoot the photo in black and white mode or post process into black and white? For me, the photo also invites other questions... What was the wind like at the time of the photo? Was the cloud over the rock lenticular (and stay a while) or was it just there for a moment...a moment when your lens "found" it? Also, in conveys a sense of solitude and implies that you the photographer, was the only one there for the moment. I agree with another forum member...more contrast please ![]() This would enhance the lines in the rock and might tend to draw the viewer in. |

Hey digicamfan...
Yes i've shot this photo with black & white mode... And gosh...the wind? I really don't know anymore.. At my right hand there was a big arch (WilsonArch) and that was the reason we stopped at the side of the road.. My eye got this rock with that cloud.. and i've actually just take a quick click at it... The black&white was already on for Wilson Arch.. The reason i've submitted this picture is execially because my parents love it Greetz! |

A good picture which deserves more drama by tweaking it with levels to increase contrast etc.
Initially I thought it was an infra-red job. |

![]() ![]() I've been playing with the contrast for quite some time.. and can't make much more out of it.. The bushes in front of the rock make it difficult... They get to dark in contrast to the rock... This is better... but not much.. |
