Snowstorm in October
The weatherman says the leaves will stay green longer this season because of all the rain we got in the summer.

Then we had a big snowstorm early this year -- October -- the earliest since the Civil War.

So fall this season is being squeezed into just a couple of days, it looks like.

Anyway, these pictures are just to show you what itís like in my neck of the woods, both urban and suburban.

#1) We got a foot of snow in October.

#2) Unlike most out-of-season snowstorms, this one didn't melt during the day so we had to pull out the shovels.

#3) Because trees were still thick with leaves, the wet snow clung to them and made the branches wilt from the weight. There were downed branches and in this
case in Central Park trees, too, everywhere.

#4) The colors are fall but the (fore)ground is wintry white snow. If as they say this is the earliest snowstorm since the Civil War, then few if any have seen anything like this picture -- a mix of fall and winter.

Thank you for looking. C&C welcome.

Great images as usual vvcarpio. So sad about the Central Park trees. Love the colors and sky in the last shot.

Thank you, Walter.

#5) Downed branch in Central Park. Our neighbor has a similar one in his frontyard and we in our backyard.
