Went for a walk this evening down to the local wharf, it was a beautiful night so I took the camera, shot at 3.5 at ISO 1600. handheld which is what suprised me, I expected it to work out worse.

Hi;
I'm sorry I missed this when you posted it; this is my kind of shot. I took quite a few shots down by our marina early this summer - came out a little too yellow for my liking. I like the way yours turned out. Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada |

cool shot alady!
i really like the light effect, since it was just out of the frame, it's got the streaks... i would suggest taking another trip out here, with a tripod, taking a couple steps to the right, and shooting vertical, so you have the dock coming out of both corners, the light just out of frame again (to cause the light effect) and then you'll have the boat in the back... nice shot, pretty amazing handheld at night! woah..just noticed...there's a person on the dock! that things alot bigger than i thought lol! Beautiful!
With such high ISO, did you have to clean a lot of noise out of that image? Given how high your ISO was, can I assume it is a very high-end dSLR? Very nice work. |

Thanks for the comments.
There was not a lot of noise in this shot really, I did very little in photoshop. I despeckled once and cloned out a post. DanielT2, no the camera is not at the top end of DSLR, the opposite, it's a digital Rebel.:-) |

Good shot alady. You just upped my desire for a DSLR. Any special lens on your Rebel, or is it the stock 18-55mm? Very nice picture. :-)

Wow, handheld, I'm impressed. Alot of good clarity there. I'm with Vito on this one, if possible go back and do a series. Maybe a panorama even. Very nice.

heres a shot I took with the G3 about 8 months ago in early morning. It shows where I took the other photo from, standing on the white tower, You really dont see how large this is from this photo, it's only when, as Vito said, you see the person sitting on the wharf that you can see it's quite big.
