Utah in B&W and Fall Vs. Winter
Hey everyone, after a long hiatus from the site and a cross country move, I'm back on the site and now in Utah rather that the midwest. Love it here, it's beautiful. Here are a few shots from my new home. Comment & Critique is welcome as always.

#1 Red Pine Lake after a fresh blanket of snow.

#2 Lake Blanche and Sundial Peak in the background.

#3 Albion Basin Fall colors meeting first snowfall.

I can see why you love your new location, looks like a place that you can wear out a few cameras! Outstanding photography!!!!

Thanks Bob, there are some truely amazing sights out here, and about wearing out cameras, I actually dropped mine off a cliff the other day. Luckily it still works, but it has some battle scars now.

Beautiful country! Which part of Utah is this? I was recently travelling in southern UT (Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park) and it was spectacular! Would love to see # 1 & 2 in color.

You're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. Especially like #2.

Hey Wingman, these were all taken in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, about 20 minutes outside Salt Lake City.

Thanks Walter, #2 is also my favorite, and one of my favorite places I've explored so far.

When I snapped the first two shots I had no intention of doing HDR, so I didn't take a bracket. Later I used photoshop to make a three exposure bracket out of each of the photos then ran it through photomatix for the B&W hdr.

Here are the first two single exposure originals in color.

The B/W's do it for me. I'm really liking #2 and #3.

Utah will give you enough spectacular subject matter to keep you busy for a long, long time! i really like #3... the contrast between the almost B&W look of the upper peaks with snow, and the colors of the lower elevations is quite striking.

Thanks for the comments guys. I think there will be more of these type B&W photos in the future, I really like the way they turned out. I feel like the pp made ok photos into dramatic landscapes.
