Thanks.
I wasn't sure about posting so many pictures, but I figured the thumnails will let anyone avoid any pictures they've got no interest in. I am -really- pleased with how pic 3 turned out. It was a spur of the moment shot that I feel paid off.. |

Good efforts.
Some are over exposed with sloping horizons - keep em straight. Levels might help with the over exposed ones e.g. 1 Look-up the rule of thirds for better composition. I think No 3 is the best. |

Be gentle... hmmmm. The last time I saw that line was in a "B" grade movie from the heroine.
The overall theme - the beach and your perspective - is quite good. Like steve said, the sloping horizon does create a problem. That can be relatively easily fixed with judicious cropping. The over exposure can also be fixed most of the time with appropriate editing. the picture with the bird loses quite a bit of punch because of the overblown highlights due to overexposure. I thought your #3 was the best from a technical and veiwpoint as well as its nice well defined lines that grab your attention. Don't lose heart. Most of us have tons of shots that also have to be edited. Aloha, Selvin |

Lose heart? Goodness no..
I've been taking photos for about a week, so I'm really quite pleased with how the shots are progressing. As you say, some of them are overexposed, but that is really a technical issue and for the most part doesn't detract from the image as most people see it. I do want to get the point where there are no technical issues, and the shots are enjoyable to view by people who just like looking at photos as well as the people who know about taking photos and can give the kind of feedback you're giving. So thank you for the feedback you're sent me so far. I'm going away next week so when I get back I'm sure I'll have lots of photos. Thanks, PlatinumWeaver. p.s. You're right about the whole 'B-grade'-iness of the 'be gentle' line.. |
