The waves at Sandy Beach, Hawaii

A recent winter storm really kicked up the waves here. This is a quick shot of what it looked like from a safe distance. Note the surfers hanging around waiting for the really "big one".

Nice work Selvin.

Wish I was there, last time I was in Hawaii was 1979 (9 years old). We stayed on Maui...can't remember the hotel but, it was right on the beach. I think I body-surfed everyday with a styrofoam kick board the hotel lent me :)

In the first image.. is that a surfer in the wave? I see the one on top of it..

Nice selvin - good colors. But it would be nice to see a surfer flying above the waves.

Gimli,
Good eyes, that's a surfer in the water. To be honest, both surfers and a few others not seen here are living dangerously unless they are professional surfers.

The beach was filled with signs warning not to go into the water.

Klaus,

I waited a long time to see if any of those brave souls would try to ride any of the waves. For the one hour I was there, I didn't see any riding these waves. Like you I wished one had done so.

Beautiful, Selvin...

There is something eternal, reassuring, powerful about your photos.

Years ago, I rode my bicycle down the Oregon Coast.

The waves, the colors here in your photos remind me of that
ride...and...I thank you.

Nice shots selvin.
I like the panaramic way you have cropped them.
