John thats stunning! Is that shot for real?

John Maddock Jan 13, 2006 4:41 AM

Thanks for all the comments guys!

John: yes it's for real, the moors have a lot of stunted trees like this, though not all are quite as windblown as this one! This location is right on the edge of the moors, facing the prevailing westerly winds, and with no high land between this location and the other side of the Atlantic.

Mark: It's taken on the side of Cox Tor not far from the Higher Godsworthy road.

Interesting thing is, this is a completely "throwaway" shot, I took it only because I thought it would make a nice caption (which came to me when I saw the tree while driving by!), and because I thought it might amuse a few folks around here :-)

Regards, John.

Very nice John. I am partial to shots such as that.

The way the wind has been blowing around here lately, I can relate to the way the tree looks.
