Default Winter night

Just before New Years we headed up to Mt Hood to snowshoe and overnight camp during a break in the weather.
I had hoped for some nice moonlit snowy landscapes but the clouds didn't clear until the moon had set.
Too bad, it was a 21% moon and would have lit up the snow and still allowed plenty of stars.
Well this shot was after the moon set, so there isn't too much contrast between the landscape and the sky.
There is light pollution from Portland, and the top of Mt Hood is lit up by nearby ski resorts.
The second picture is with the moon, but the clouds hadn't cleared yet, plus one of the ski resorts were lighting up the clouds on the right side.
This location in on a ridge in between two ski resorts.

G'day mate

not knowing the area at all - all I can comment upon is your images .... and they are beaut!

I particularly enjoy #2 with its lovely blue skies, nice white clouds and your little "5-star accommodation" in the foreground

You're a lot braver than me - I can't stand the snow or extreme cold & wet weathers
