Hi Shaun!

Wow, such INTERESTING colours. Not what I would have expected from Crete on a September morning. Very powerful. I've just returned from Greece (honeymoon there) and I must admit the area we were in (south west) has a variety of colours / landscapes off the main roads especially, e.g. some waterfalls, greener hills, etc.

The colours of the clouds in your photo contrast so interestingly with the green / aqua water and then the "almost heather looking" hillside/ background... I love it!

Were you in Crete on holidays in September? I expect it was nice and warm?

Hi Paul

Many thanks for your comments. Yes Lake Kournas is very untypical of the usual Greek scenes. This was taken late September this year and was the only cloudy day we had, the other days were generally sunny and 30 degrees C.

Hello Shaun,

Lake Kournas looks like a lovely place to visit should I ever get to Crete... It's nice to have "untypical" places too, even of beautiful Greek landscapes.

So you did well on that one cloudy day to make the most of an unusual set of colours / weather conditions. All the best...

Paul

Lovely shot Shaun. You've captured a real beauty here. I really like the emerald green of the water contrasting with the orange coloured terrain-and it was nice of someone to leave a boat there for you too-works wonderfully....cheers........Don

Thanks! I heard on the news this week that due to heavy storms this week a state of emergency has been declared in that area and the road up to this lake is not passable. Guess I was lucky!
