There is an annual sculpture exhibition by Bondi beach in Sydney each year and it always provides an excellent opportunity to take a few photos. This years exhibition was brilliant as always. I would appreciate any feedback/constructive criticism of the photos as it was my first time trying to photograph the event.

Hi treemonkey: that's a great subject, and I like the composition a lot, but for me the lack of sharpness in the foreground just spoils things a little. However, whether it would have been possible to do anything about it is another matter - depends on your camera really - could you have stopped down any more when taking that one?

Regards, John.

Thanks for the comments John. I took this photo with my 50mm at f1.8 on my 350D, I was actually wanting to have a soft foreground. I dont use my 50mm much and I certainly dont use f1.8 much so it was a bit of an experiment really. I took a number of photos of this sculpture and also with my sigma 17-70mm, the photo below was at f8. I dont like it as much as the f1.8 image but these things are very subjective.

Hi treemonkey: as you say subjective and tricky!

Now you come to mention it I can see what you were trying to achieve: the blurring in the forground does draw the eye to the sculpture, so maybe it's not blurred enough:G

All out of good ideas yours, John.
