I remember having sent another shot of this 15km long valley along the river, which makes a great walking track with rock cut churches on either sides!

Hello bahadir! I must walk this area someday! Your powershot does a great job, beautiful sky and rocks while still showing some detail in the shadows. Very nice!

Bob, thanks for your appreciation! I am looking forwardto shooting there with you! Actually my S70 overenjoys harsh light conditions:-)In fact, I couldeven bringout more detail from shadow area via pp but that would not look very natural...

Bahadir ... Happy new year to you.

This is a beautiful picture .... is it close to the one you posted a few weeks ago ... your mentioning churches carved out of the rock rang a bell of memory?

I am still at the stage where I lose overall balance by .... adding too much brightness to the shadows ... as if darkness and obscurity is a sin.

I take good lesson from those shadow details of yours which were NOT pushed.

Thankyou

Glyn

Thank you so much, Glyn! I think you referring to my Timeless in Cappadocia post: http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...d=8&page=1 The one you see now is not exactly the same location but a very near one, which is alsoat Cappadocia in central Anatolia.

I am humbled by your credit for me...At this point I should say while retaining the darkness and obscurity is surely not a sin,it is not a virtue either!!:GWell, all in good time...It's ok to use it as a layer or a contrasting (and therefore complementary)element in composition but certainly not agoodexcuse for producingunderexposed images hindering (or burying!) the beauty of the texture and colours, IMO
