Stefank,

The latest shutterbug (July) has a nice article 'Making Digital Photos Sing' on some basic image post-processing you can do with Photoshop. If you don't have Photoshop, get Photoshop Elements. It is a fraction of the price ($50 or so), and can do a ton of stuff.
