This shot is pretty much right out of the camera with just a tad bit of sharpening and contrast adjustment. It's a shot of one of a trio of resuced Belgian horses on the Mendocino coast of Calif. It was early morning and this particular horse was scratching and sunning in the moring warmth. I shot this from the balcony of our room, about 300 yards away, with my 200-500mm Tamron fully extended. I was actually not expecting much and was surprised by the outcome. I would very much like to others to critique and comment on this shot to see if it's as good as I think it is.
Thanks all, in advance for your feedback.

Seems like you captured your Pegasus (but without wings)! The beautiful setting like that of a fairytale and theappealing subject do notneed any justification

My only humble suggestion would be a cropping such as below, to keep the essentials onlywhile providing enough space for the subject to move ahead and conveying the light falling on the branches and tree trunks...

Well done Steve!

Thank you Badadir, I have struggled myself with many different crops of this scene, including one similar to the one you offered. You make a very good point and I thank you for taking the time to convey your vision. This surreal picture seems to offer many different possiblities and interpretations. Thank you for sharing yours.

You just need a wizard, or an elf or something, and that would be a great cover for some fantasy novel.

Kudos for your honesty. I'd have been tempted to claim I intended a result like that.

Thats a great photo , I would not crop it at all, I think it spoils it, very good composition, excellent colours.
