This is something you don't see everyday. During a recent visit to our favorite close-bynational park, The Great Smoky Mountains,the park was doing a controled burn of a field in Cades Cove. It was very interesting to watch them start the fire and then contain it to just the field.

Thank you all for the comments.

We stood there and watched these firefighters start the fire and then control it for quite a while. It was really fascinating. We returned a few hours later and other than some smoke and one smoldering tree, life was already returning to normal.

neat series! my grandfather in Nova Scotia is always starting fires in his fields. We think he's a bit of a pyromaniac, though!
