I thought this image would be fitting for today. in the States, we observe Veterans' Day, most of the rest of the western world calls it Armistice Day... either way, it's a day when we should stop and remember, if only for a moment, the heroism of those who have served and sacrificed to ensure our freedom. this is a cemetery in Normandy, France, where lie some of the American soldiers who fell on D-Day. the cemetery is huge; this view encompasses but a small part of it. it is aresting placefor American soldiers only, and even at that, it holds only about 40% of those who fell during that "longest day", the invasion of Fortress Europe in June of 1944...

"All gave some; some gave all."

Brings me back memories of our trip to Washington DC at the beginning of summer. Sorry this is a couple days late but we should never forget. This is a shot of Arlington, wish the sun would have given a better lighting for this, but it does still convey the same thoughts...:

I instilled in my children when they were very young the importance of Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Peral Harbor Day, just to name a few. Now they are young adults and when we talk on these days they alwaysrecite the importance without asking, its a good thing. May God Bless allthe Veterans.
