It is painted once a year as I understand it. The graffiti will come for sure. There is a story to be told. Getting closer by alienation of distance

Various quotes from tourist guides

"It is said that it became red when a Swedish naval officer was chased by the attacking Danes and killed, his blood splashing everywhere"

"The whole area has got its name from the red stone. It has been painted red for many, many years and there are a lot of explanations to this. One is that a Swedish officer was killed by some Danes here and his blood covered the stone. Another explanation is that the stone just marked a border where the harbour began. Today the stone is painted yearly by the city of Gothenburg"

"The stone marked according to some facts where the border to Denmark was before Sweden had concurred Bohuslän and Halland (two regions in present Sweden)"

"According to a legend, the stone was coloured by the blood from a Swedish officer who was pursued by Danish forces at one of their landings. They killed him and his blood was sprayed over the stone"

"After time passed by this area become well known. All types of criminals and other no-good people used to hang out here at one of the many restaurants which was situated here. The criminals used to rob just laded sailors on their hard earned salary"

"Many warehouses were also situated in this area. Here they stored all of the towns winter necessity of rock- and sea salt"

The truth? I´ll do some muckraking / Sherlocking on the subject

Until then you will have to do with th pictures to come :-) Thanks for taking the time for following this thread

Thank you. Seems to be hard to find out the truth about the red stone. Many legends have disputable factual content. Thanks anyhow, hercules

The rain came, as expected

Last picture. The white house in the background is said to have been a women's prison. Don't know if that is true or not:-)
