The "broken rule" is this:

All landscapes should be shot in landscape (not portrait orientation).

I like this orientation because...

The photos hint of a continuum...from warm sunset upward
to the inky black of space.

Also they remind me of nature's supreme aviators, the raptors, who soar effortlessly above the terrain by catching the updrafts
or "thermals."

I like the top photo best. It is OK to break the rules!

I ??think?? I would crop out the top left and right corner.

vignette- all 4 corners. the worst is the top corners. crop them out. or shoot at a zoom level where there is no vignette.

#2 to me needs an anchor point for you reference.

Hi Chuck & sjms__

Thanks for your comments

I elected to leave the vignette in...for two reasons...

One, I did not want to lose the space around setting sun in lower left of one photo.

Two, the vignettes harkened back to old photo albums with the
adhesive-backed, triangle shaped "holders" for photos.

Oi vey! Mon Dieu! Another rule broken!
