Default My Utah impressions

This picture was taken on the way to Moab, Utah, along the Colorado River. I love the red colored sand stone and the weird rock formations you find all over. More Utah pictures are in my gallery at http://www.pbase.com/barthold/utah

Love it. The composition is such that there's no exit for the eyes, trapping the viewer within--just what we all would like to do at least sometimes.

I was particularly curious about the way the clouds seem to be converging in the distance. Is that a Utah sort of phenomenon or a lens sort of thing?

I was there for several days, and that was the only day there were such cool clouds. That was just the way they are :-) I did use a polarizer filter. The rest of the days it was pretty much cloudless.

The following picture is of Delicate Arch, in Arches National Park. This one is great to take pictures of at sunrise. At sunset the arch totally blends into the background and is hard to spot even!

Barthold,

Great shots, love the detail and colors..something about the sky, maybe a bit dark (in the 1st shot), could be my old monitor at work though

Here is one of my Utah photo's...

This is the sunset in arches...
I'm sitting between TurretArch and the Windows

If you look closely (and really know the place) you can see the top of balancing rock
