This otter obviously caught its tail between two rocks, and is writhing in pain.

Just off the lakeshore in the background is 'The Crannog Centre', a reconstructed Iron Age lake dwelling, on timber piles driven into the lake bed. There are 38 genuine 'crannogs' in Loch Tay, and hundreds, if not thousands,all over Scotland, but only one, across the Loch from here, has been properly excavated overmany years,for a few weeks each summer as funding and manpower permits, by the Scottish Underwater Archaeology Trust.
