Default Stupid sometimes works

Sitting on the back steps last night, I noticed how the porch light rested on a black locust tree. I ran inside for my camera, but I forgot to up the ISO.

Somehow, the grain seems to work. What think you?

It works pretty well. I like the shot as it is.

Speaking of eerie, it was like being back in the darkroom watching a photo slowly show up on paper in the developer. When I brought this file into Photoshop, it appeared utterly black...until I started sliding the gray pointer left on the Levels adjustment. It just proves once again that it's better to err on the side of underexposure than it is on the side of overexposure. Of course, it's even better to remember to increase the ISO when it's dark out.
