It was a rare mostly calm day today with lovely mild weather so I spent it attempting to capture some fall moments in Kansas. We don't have the spectacular foilage seen in many areas, but thereare lots of pretty spots. This was taken on a pond at the edge of an apartment complex.

Milford Lake is near my home-it's manmade and has about 120 miles of shoreline. This is a small portion of that shoreline not far from where I live.

These are leaves on a Cottonwood Tree (the official Kansas tree!).

Red Maples are not native to Kansas, but there are quite a few here thanks to so many being planted.

Another area at Milford Lake. I like to call this "Painted and framed by Mother Nature".

These trees at Milford Lake are frequently partially underwater (as they are now!) due to the rise and fall of the lake level.

This is actually from a few days ago--it was beautifully clear today. This wetlands area is reached via gravel and dirt roads, but it's worth the trip. Very secluded and quiet.

Unlike the previous wetlands, this one isn't hard to reach at all. It's actually part of an old river channel and is on one edge of astreet full of commercial shoppingstores- (can you say "Wal-Mart"?) The two areas co-exist quite well.

I took a break from taking photos to go to the gym for awhile. This tree was across the street from the workout center.
