slipe - that looks good. What did you do? The picture has some nice depth to it now.

Barbara - Thanks for the inspiring words. I will keep at it!

PeterP - I just moved to this town. That is more than likely why I noticed this great location. I really want to get an early morning shot when the sun just starts touching the trees. I've seen the shot I want, just haven't been able to get it with the camera yet.

From your original I applied amount 16 and radius about 180 in unsharp mask. Then I went to selective color and brightened it up a little trying to stay within the fall colors. I could probably do better with the orange but it was a quick and dirty. It actually looks better desaturated a tad.
