At first I liked the first one best...but the more I look at them the more I like the second.

Maybe because there is a little beach there and a bridge. I can actually imagine people walking around inside that huge forrest. It looks like a great place.

Great photos. I agree with Soundengineer, I also like the second one best.

I would crop out most if not all of the sky. In my opinion it adds nothing to the photo.

Joshua B

Since you don't live that far away from me, I wondered. Have you found the foliage kinda dull this year (at least in our area)? I tried going out west last weekend and found some good yellows (and there are some ok yellows in this area if you know where to look) but none of the really amazing reds which I love so much.

I find the straightness of the waterway in the first less interestign than the second with the bridge and the bend. You might consider selecting just the sky in the second one and darkening it a little bit. It seems a bit overbright and distracting from the darker (but colorful) trees.

Yeah in the second pic I was basically shooting directly into the sun.

It's funny Eric. I don't really remember the different levels of foliage from year to year. It seems like it's such a short time that we get to see the beautiful fall foliage, so I just enjoy it while I can. I can't really remember if it's better or worse than last year.
