thanks melanie!
oops. yes. these are powerlines. I erased a power pole in the middle of the picture. I should erase the lines, too, I guess

EDIT: Okay. I've just 'repaired' the picture, so the power lines can't be seen anymore and I compressed the pic a little more. (500kb was too much )

They are talking about the powerlines Kex erased. That's why you don't see any...

Oh yes, what a great semantic meaning emoticons carry with them !

My sentence without considering the emoticon could have been really interpreted as
what are you talking about ? were are the powerlines ? I cannot see them.
Hence Arjo reply.

If u add that little smiling face at the end the sentence changes into a sort of humor whose final meaning is "nice job Kex, I can't really see u have erased them.". (well, actually I could see some artifacts but I didn't want too be too critical ) ( consider also how this smiley changes the meaning of my sentence ).

Since when we write in Internet we are missing non-verbal communication channels like the tone of the voice and the facial expressions, emoticons are a surrogate that supplies for the absence of them conveying what our expression is supposed to be when we say something in a certain way.

Try to remove emoticons from all of the posts at steves and consider how many misunderstanings could arise
