Thanks, shadokachr,

From wikipedia:

"Gothenburg is the second-largest city in Sweden and the fifth-largest amongst the Nordic Countries. Situated on the south-west coast of Sweden, the city proper has a population of 510,491 in 2005, with a total of 906,691 inhabitants in the metropolitan area"

2009 the number of inhabitants has increased

Wikipedia has some information on the naming and historical facts:

http://prototype.wikimedia.org/en.wi...org/Gothenburg

Many tourists come here in the summer. People are friendly and easy to get contact with

You are very welcome to my town

Thanks. At least now I've seen seen Gothenburg. I went there once to pick up my new (1992) Volvo and had intended to spend the time after the transaction to see a bit of the town. That day was however very overcast AND I spent the entire day in Volvo's customer center while they corrected a few issues.

It's a good picture and I for one welcome any you have of your home town.

A. C.,

Been thinking of how to respond to your reply. Hope you were satisfied with your Volvo. Of course I could post some sunny pictures of my beloved home town

Have some thousands exposures. Have to choose an approach. Decided to post some pictures from the same vantage point and in the overcast kind of weather you told me about. The first picture shows the Fortlet Crown hill

That's the place where I made the first picture and from where some other pictures will follow

The Fortlet Crown seen from another high vantage point not very far from the leftmost church in the first picture, Slottsskogen

Hi Torgny

Lovely photos of your towns. I should visit your are one day! I've heard Gothenburg is nice.

Very subtle (morning/evening?) colours in the first one - with the trees on each side making a lovely frame.

The colours in the 2nd photo more vivid and appeal to compliment the balance (green, red and blues).

Cheers

Paul

Thanks, Paul,

Yes, the first picture was made 21.11 hours in a very kind light. You know, this town is these days invaded by football players from all over the globe.

It is a youth tournament and the largest football event in the world, if you count the participants. The city is blooming from young people of all colours

Their skin and their team dresses shine all over. The tournament is called "Gothia Cup"

As I told A. C. I was not quite finished

Thank you for the additional views of your city. Number 2 particularly portrays what I think is the beauty of European cities which is their mix of architecture from different ages standing in cortrast but yet a unified whole.
