Thank you. You encourage me to do what I'd planned - to post some more pictures from the ices. Usually the ices are not strong enough to walk on but this winter especially has been cold enough

Extremely cold winters you can drive by car some miles out to the archipelago. Not so this year - not yet anyhow. But there is still hope...

A woman returning from a cross ice skiing tour. The encounter could have been closer, much closer. That's real skiing, not for play or sports.

Walking on the ices you'll come upon these small populations of reed. Strangely it's quite possible to create a personal realationship

- "Oh, how are you out here in the cold?"

- "Oh, fine. And You? Yes, I'll walk in that direction. South. Just wandering around"

Looking also at the sky for direction we move from Kipp Islet, south .....
