You can only give it a go and see how it looks. If your camera has a cropped sensor, it's not going to be wide enough. This shot was done with a 15mm fisheye on my 20d, 1.6 cropped sensor.

This is great. Living in Dallas area, where you don't see much in the way of stars, it's probably pointless.

I need to get back to Iowa. In the summer every year, they have the shadfly hatch along the river, and every town shuts down all the lights to keep them away. At that time, the starts are amazingly bright and beautiful.

But even a few miles between towns, it's very dark. And that's what one needs, I guess. I have to do this.
