Default Boats along Lake Palokka (Finland)

Hiya! Greetings from central Finland! I had my trusty new Pentax K7 with me today... Weird weather though... It's been raining 10 days... went out to lake (5 minute walk from my home)... A strong front blew through, with rain and a all... I found a wooden hut at the beach to hide in... then the sun broke through... and it became warm and bright... Weird weather, indeed!!! Anyhow... Here is a photo, which could have been improved on in terms of composition... Oh, this was taken with a "KIT LENS". I am new to PSE8... any suggestions are appreciate.

Thanks and the best.

Ned

Beautiful colors and sky! Another shot I like

But I don't know if it's just me, but I think your shots are a bit soft - do you sharpen them after resizing? My last step when I'm finished with all the pp and I have resized the shot to 800x533 is to apply some unsharpening in PS/PSE (about 120/1,1/0)... maybe you want to try that?

I sharpened it... but I think I did something wrong... if you look closely, there is a little halo around the small branches. Yes, I sharpen after resizing... Thanks so much for the info you have... I will try again. Ned

I think it looks pretty nice. I can't see any halo on the small branches but there is what looks like jpeg artefacts so maybe you over compressed it? If you look closely at the sky the blue is a bit blocky too so that's possibly it.

Thanks Martin. Appreciate your suggestions. I am green using PSE8, still trying to grapple with compression... jpeg artefacts... etc. All the best. Ned
