They were unique in that the bottoms were flat - their assaults could be fast.

Sorry that I derailed your post a bit. Skei's were larger, between 30 to 35 meters in lenght. 30-36 rowing benches. Was on one as a kid. I had just noticed your location, and with your Photography of water and sky I thought maybe you had the opportunity to photograph one under square sail. LOL I would imagine that the world has not seen many cutting the water in over 950 years.
