Default Random Picks Along 42nd Street, New York City

What many people know as New York City is really just the borough of Manhattan. New York City has 4 other boroughs -- Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island -- that are largely residential with many of the populace coming to Manhattan -- “New York City” -- to work.

I don’t live in New York City (or any of its boroughs) but I work there. And to get to the city I go by way of New Jersey into the Port Authority on the west side of Manhattan. From there, I walk along 42nd Street to my building.

I thought I’d take you along and see some of the sights on 42nd Street. Thank you for looking. C&C welcome.

#1) 42nd Street from the NW corner of 8th Avenue.

#2) View from across the street on the SW corner.

#3) 42nd and 7th with car on billboard.

#4) Bryant Park on 6th.

#5) New York Public Library on 6th.

#6) Grand Central Terminal.

Thanks, bhammitt, frank.

Frank, I'm using the Tamron 10-24mm. I also considered the Sigma 10-20mm which has a lot of good reviews at amazon.com. I went for the Tamron after reading one review (amazon.com, too, I think). He was planning on getting the Sigma but his wife gave him the Tamron as a present. He thought about doing an exchange but after getting real-world testing on the Tamron he decided to keep it.

Thanks, paniolo.

#9) Symantec (maker of Norton security software) has this display at Grand Central Terminal yesterday. I'm not sure what the significance of the globe is but it sure attracts attention.
