Default Sculpture at Madison Square Park, NYC

Sculpture by Jaume Plensa, born and based in Barcelona, is on display at Madison Square Park in NYC. (The park runs along Fifth and Broadway between 23rd and 26th in the Flatiron District.) The sculpture is made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic. It is a "monument to everyday people" in that sculpture is modeled the head of after a "nine-year old daughter of a restaurant proprietor near Plensa's home in Barcelona." (source: http://www.madisonsquarepark.org/thi...on-square-park)

Jaume Plensa is also the creator of the Crown Fountain on display in Chicago.

Now there's some shots you don't see everyday. Very well done. Thanks for sharing the info on the sculpture.

Really nice. I especially like the perspective of number 3.

Thank you, jjdog2, umdaman1. I took the pictures Tuesday, when the workers were just about wrapping up. Today, I came back and found they let people in on the grass. And today's weather being extremely pleasant, the place was packed.

Marawder, it's a monument made especially for me -- "everyday people" -- so I really, really like it. But I have to admit, if the artist titled it anything else, I might find it weird, too.

Thanks, simple. Yes I did pp with Topaz Adjust. I separated processing of the statue to make it stand out more. While there, however, the statue appeared, um, holographic to me.

I'm glad to be of help. I, too, look at others' photos here and elsewhere to get inspiration.
