Not too much Photoshop to my taste. I think you did a great job! The only thing you might consider changing is the intensity of the gradient coming down from the top into the sky, maybe softening it a bit. I don't think it would reduce the wonderful effect of showcasing the bird.

Hey Klaus DK...

Great mood in your photo!

Kinda looks like Skagit River in Western Washington, USA in the
winter!

I like the work, as usual. It is such a peaceful picture.

Great shot and postprocessing. Everything doesnít have to end up the way the camera saw it. I really like the mood and feel of the shot.

Agree with Barbara on the graduated sky. Just a bit too sharp of a gradient change. Otherwise, wonderful shot! As Mr Magoo would say "Magoo, you've done it again!"

I looked at the last poster in Landscape and saw "Klaus DK" and knew I had to look.

I was not disappointed. It's not a shot I would take (different eye for shots) but I wish I did 'cause it conveys a mood very well. Something I find difficult to do in a photo. I might have cut off some of the bottom, which seems a bit bright. It would move that lower gull futher down (which some might not like)... and it would darken the overall picture. I don't know. Something about that brightness bugs me and seems at odds with the rest of the mood, but maybe it's the contrast that helps make the mood?

Analysing this type of picture (as an aid to gaining an eye for them) is not an easy thing. There is so much interplay with the fog and color and mood.

Iíve seen stronger gradients than that in the real world Ė the gradient doesnít usually follow the profile of the trees though. I think thatís what draws attention.
