this is one of the beaches famous for one of the great fights in the pacific. the US taking Guam back from the japanese.

Sobering to think what a difference sixty years make...

It is so peaceful now...unlike the furies unleashed in the 1940s.

digcam,

what's really ironic is now. besides the military base, we're reliant on tourism, mainly japanese. at least in a more peaceful and civilized manner.
