Here's a photo of Mt St Helens I took while on vacation this past month.

Shows a lot of the devestation still remaining after 21 years

It's hard to beleive that half of that mountain blew away and caused the damage you see in your photo - so far away.

In my desk drawer I still have a little jar of Mt St Helens ash. It remember it was being sold in a magazine ad for $1. I was just a kid and thought it would be a neat...

I travelled up there right after it happened and collected about 4 buckets of ash - gave them to all my nephews and neices and friends.

They all have their ash still - I don't.

The blast zone is incredible when you see all those trees still down, 21 years later, and the little trees sprouting up all around the dead growth

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the dead trees in the foreground is more likely due to a more recent fire than the eruption two decades ago. Whatever the case, it's still a nice photo.
