Took this one a couple of days before it was full. The rare "Blue Moon" in July.

Nice shot thekman620. what settings did you use to get the detail of the moon? Ive tried a moon shot and the moon was completely whited out.

Hi MVA Steve. I used spot metering on the moon, and a low aperture. I have a coolpix 4300, so the manual settings are limited, but I used the low aperture setting, and zoomed in to 220 mm using a 2X optical adapter on a tripod. The picture is also cropped-hence the noise. I can't remember the shutter speed, but I think it was about 1/60. If you have spot metering in your camera, that's the key to not blowing out the detail. Good luck.......... thekman.
