Quite a tonal range you had to deal with here.

Ohenry, It was a bit of a challenge, like attempting to stuff a range of ten full stops into a media that only wants to see half that. So shots of this nature are always going to be a huge problem. Its the photogs choice at this point huh? One can but try to create a representation of what he saw and hope that others can see some larger part of what was really there. If it sounds like I'm crying , well I guess I am!

Tom, yes I have a plethera of these but I'm in a quandry as PS CS will not recognize the Raw files generated by the Canon 20D so I am using the software provided with the camera and it is totally a rank stranger to me. MY unfamilarity with the program makes me fell like I'm working handcuffed. I'll get it sorted out eventually. I only wish I could process these shots and share the fantasyic sights I saw this morning.

Lanterman's Mill spillway, take my word for it , Doesn't normally look this way. And yes there are blown highlites in this shot but sometimes you need to be a photojournalist and capture the moment and not worry about the technicals.
