The colors in that sunrise are too cool. That mushroom cloud on the left is a little spooky looking.

lol, that cumulonimbus looks a little threatening....and i don't mean in the storm sense...lol

does look like a mushroom cloud...it's pretty thin in the middle...but because of the type of cloud, and the altitude it got (hit the tropopause) it can't go any higher, that explains the "anvil" look..

lol, science lesson over

cool colors in this one

good edit from the original too! (haha...i go on byte photo too )

I think you're wrong vito. That is a cloud from a nuclear explosion. Look, you can the light from the fires breaking through the clouds on the right.

*runs and hides in his cardboard bomb shelter*

 I like it Scrappy. I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it.

More to Vito's science lesson.

The CB (CB-Capilatus, because of the anvil) does not seem to be at a height where the tropopause is unless Scrappy lives near the north-/south pole! The tropopause is at the poles about 30.000 feet, at 45 degrees North/South about 40.000 feet and at equator about 60.000 feet.

It is true that it willstop at thetropopause because of Isothermy (the temperature is constant with increasing height) and because above the tropopause the temperature starts to increase again. The cloud can only continue to build upwards if the sorrounding air is colder than the air "inside" the cloud. But to me it looks like an inversion around 20.000 feetin the troposphere!

If I'm wrong please correct me! :O

Since the first one brought so much interest here is another shot of the same cloud. This one is just the cloud and not the rest of the clouds to the right.
