Default Hello! New user, taking some shots

Hello,

I am very new to digital photography and new to photography in general. Please post comments and "constructive" criticism :-)

I find myself truely enjoying this new hobby and hope to improve with the help of time, instruction and practice.

Thanks,

Andrew

Default Very nice work

Andrew:

I find the two pictures excellent. That being said, you have to realize that someone commenting on your photo has to be able to relate to the subject. We both like closeup shots of unusual flowers with narrow DOF. Looking at the picture I am thinking to myself, I wish I could say that I took that; which means I admire you technique. But another person might not see the same way we do and find some fault with it. The point I'm trying to make is this: Your pictures have to satifsy YOU. (Of course if you are like most of us in this hobby, you will always be disappointed with most of your work-I know I am. I always think--if I had just moved a little to the left or used a larger aperature--which is good otherwise we would become stagnant) I find that I learn a lot by trying to copy the style of a photographer (s) whose work I admire, and maybe combine it with something else. Good luck
