Hi aladyforty,

Lots of nice pix up at the moment, so congrats on all of them!

Am picking on this one though because I'm curious to know what a fire movement of vehicles ban is - presumaby it is to make sure people don't drive into dangerous areas by mistake? Mustmake lifedifficult, or does it only apply to certain types of vehicles?

I like all the different wheaty textures and the colour and low-tech. lookof the harvester. For my tuppence worth - I think I'd have extended the final bush rangea bitand cropped out the sky.

Like the carnival pix elsewhere very muchtoo...

Thanks,

what I was talking about is called a fire ban here and if farmers disobey this they are fined heavily. when the temperature gets above a certain degree, a movement ban in paddocks is declared as any moving parts in a vehicle such as belts, exhaust, anything really, has been known to spark a fire off in hot and particularly windy conditions. The bans usually go on in the morning and late in the afternoon, they are lifted.

That harvester is about five years old, air conditioned, Cd player etc so not too low tech:-)

Interesting info re the ban. Considering what it says aboutyoursummer heat, it's good to hear the harvester has air con!

If I didn't know you were from Oz, Julie, this would be a scene right outa Kansas, USA.

It is amazing how majority of world is indebted to a very few for their daily bread (wheat is it?).

I love the aspect of working the land, the openess of your photo.

That's so funny, Julie...not your picture...just that we are a world apart and this is the scene I captured Nov. 8th in Wisconsin as the sun was setting on my way home from work.
