Reportedly, this is how Captain Vancouver saw Rainier for the first time...

Like a mountain floating on a bed of clouds (sans structures of course).

Great shot!

You have ably captured alpenglow from over 50 miles away. Quite the feat!

thanks for the kind words... a long zoom lens does wonders! if you look closely, in the cloud band just below the right edge of the mountain, you can see the landing lights of a plane on approach to Sea-Tac airport...
