Looking through dwarf pines toward ghostly burned out remains of an old forest, and the hills in the distance

The sand here is soft and very white. It's almost like you're on a beach, but there's no ocean nearby.

These "stunted" pitch pine trees rarely grow more than 5 feet. If we didn't know better, this looks like a scene north of the arctic circle.

And off we go toward the horizon on a seemingly endless trail lined with little pines.
