I pulled over on to the side of the road a took this late today, converted to b/w and did a contrast adjustment. Really cool, the whole sky was dark except for one hole in the clouds.

Great idea and the composition is excellent. I just wish there was more detail in some of the clouds. It may just be my monitor, but I'm seeing lots of black (especially on the left side) without anything to hold my interest. The tree silhouette, however, is beautiful.

Your placement of the tree is simply superb in the great overall silhouette effect of the image. Well done!

Ooooo, stunning! You've got those b&w conversions down to a fine art now.

Thank you Ladyhawk, bahadir and John! I find myself drawn more and more to b/w photography, when I'm not out taking photos I study the work of the great photographers from the past. I think b/w photos can be so powerful and full of emotion. I love history and am a very nostalgic person, I wish I could have talked with some of the people I read about! Here is a very interesting site to visit when you have time. http://www.geh.org/photographers.html

I wish I could have gotten a little more detail in the clouds also but my mainfocuswas on the contrast of the bright light behind the tree and the darkness everywhere else.

Great shot there Bob. Love the composition. Single trees in silhouette work great. Like the B&W too.........thekman.

I like silhouettes and this is a nice one Bob.

Also like B&Win a lot of instances. I took up many, many rolls of B&W film using an old Petri 35mm....I loved that camera, turned out excellent photos.Aw, i'm getting nostalgic now.:-)

Nice job!
